Extricom reassures existing resellers over Wireless IT deal

Wireless networking vendor Extricom has signed Wireless IT as its latest UK distribution partner.

The vendor is looking to develop an enterprise-focused partner base to take advantage of wireless LAN infrastructure and support converged data, voice and video services.

Steve Northedge, vice president and general manager for EMEA at Extricom, said: “Wireless IT has the experience, expertise and reputation that Extricom was looking to partner with and we both clearly understand the advantages of working with each other. Together we can address certain markets and develop Wireless IT’s reseller base.”

Phil Owen, managing director at Wireless IT, said: “Wireless was looking for a vendor that could deliver voice over wireless and after seeing Extricom’s live demo, it seemed like a good relationship to build.

“Wireless IT’s resellers will now have access to a solution that offers voice over wireless, whereas before this was not available. It also expands on our VARs’ knowledge and value to the enterprise,” added Owen.

Northedge added: “The partnership with Wireless IT will not affect our other distributors. Extricom wants to increase its amount of partner relationships, but without conflict in the channel. Wireless IT’s services do not conflict with any of Extricom’s other distributors.”

However, Scott Dobson, managing director at distributor VComm, told CRN: “We are shocked and surprised to learn that Wireless IT has teamed with Extricom. The new distributor’s solutions do not overlap with VComm’s, but it seems we have some competition.”
