Virtual tape library (VTL) vendor
Sepaton
has announced a soar in its sales figures since signing
Hammer
as its sole distributor six months ago.
The vendor has exceeded $1m in sales since April, by offering its VTL products
exclusively via the channel.
Christo Conidaris, sales director for EMEA at Sepaton, said: “VTL is a growing
market and the results we have achieved with the help of Hammer are very
exciting. We have no plans to recruit any other distributors; we plan to keep
Hammer as our sole distributor.”
“There are huge opportunities for resellers as the interest in virtualisation
continues to increase. Sepaton is solely channel focused, so has an advantage
over its competitors , such as EMC and NetApp, who also sell direct,” he added.
James Ward, managing director at Hammer, told CRN: “Sepaton is not a
very well-known brand, yet it has managed to exceed sales of $1m with our
partnership.”
“Virtualisation in tapes fits very nicely into Hammer’s portfolio, so it is a
perfect partnership to have in such a growing market,” added Ward.
Both Hammer and Sepaton said there have been large accounts achieved in sectors,
including finance, telco and manufacturing.
Conidaris also explained how Sepaton and Hammer run a joint reseller programme.
“The programme has three functions: to kick start a relationship with the
reseller; to train the reseller; and to identify and educate key individuals on
the programme to ensure they cover their market effectively.”
Conidaris said that Sepaton’s next move will be to focus more on smaller
businesses.
