Northgate forms partnership with DES

VAR will push security vendor's flagship product into the public sector

Written by Laura Hailstone

Security vendor Data Encryption Systems (DES) has signed a deal with VAR Northgate Information Solutions to sell its flagship product, DESlock+.

This deal will make DESlock+ the sole encryption product Northgate supplies as part of its offering to customers in the public sectors.

David Tomlinson, managing director for DES, said: “We have signed an agreement with Northgate Information Solutions which will see them selling DESlock+ into government as part of a software-as-a-service, managed security offering. We have already worked with Northgate on previous projects and it is great news that we have been able to continue this relationship, which we have been building for over two years. We are beginning to observe a real wave of interest in DESlock+ from the public sector as data security grows in significance - with this, on top of the Dutch Education Board deal, it is clear that encryption technology is becoming increasingly popular.”

Peter Banahan, partner manager at Northgate Information Solutions, said: " The need for data encryption within all levels of government has never been as well understood as it is today. DESlock+ is the standard encryption tool for all laptops within Northgate Information Solutions and we have been impressed with the product and the excellent support from DES. As a satisfied user ourselves, we look forward to promoting our DESlock+ managed data security service in a professional capacity."
