Infrastructure and services giant Computacenter has seen overall group turnover grow for the first time since 2003 in its 2007 financials.

The corporate VAR saw pre-tax profit shoot up 12.3 per cent for its year end 2007 results – filing profit of £42.7m compared to £38m in 2006. Turnover increased 4.8 per cent to £2.38bn compared to £2.27bn the previous year.

Computacenter’s German operation also saw its ‘best ever’ performance with growth across both product and services. France, which has typically been weaker than Germany and the UK also saw ‘significant progress’.

The UK business enters 2008 with a ‘record contract base’ and a strong pipeline of new business across market sectors, the VAR revealed.

Mike Norris, chief executive of Computacenter, said: “ Computacenter made encouraging progress across the Group in 2007. The strong performance in the UK in the second half of the year and the gains made throughout the course of 2007 in Germany and France, allow us to look to the future with confidence.

“We have for some years been pursuing a strategy of strengthening our services capabilities, restructuring the cost base of our product supply business, increasing our mid-market penetration, and upgrading our sales capabilities. We believe that we have made, and are continuing to make, strong progress in all of these areas.”
