Dicota signs Simms

Mobile accessories vendor calls on Simms to grow channel breadth

Written by Nick Booth

Memory distributor Simms International is to carry the Dicota range of bags,
cases and accessories for mobile computing. The German manufacturer’s goods are
to be added to a portfolio that already includes accessories from Crumpler and
Built NY in the UK.

“Our focus is to become the UK’s top accessories distributor,” said Alex Tatham,
Simms' managing director. “There are great margins to be made in mobile
accessories and Dicota is a leading player in both bags and IT accessories that
will complement our existing portfolio.

“It is fantastic to have such an important brand and I look forward to selling Dicota into a wide range of resellers and retailers. I am certain that Simms will become a critical part of Dicota’s success.”

Luke Ireland, managing director of Dicota said he wanted a company that would
grow the company’s channel breadth as well as volume. “Simms is a great fit to
this requirement,” he said.

The new product range will be incorporated into Simms International Accessories
(SIA) division, which the distributor formed in 2007.

"Dicota is a perfect partner for Simms,” said Tatham. “Our accessories business
will continue to grow rapidly in the near future and Dicota's range of laptop
bags and accessories will fit nicely with our VAR customers and we will target
retailers alongside this drive.”
