Lockdown Networks closed for business on 18 March, citing slower than predicted adoption of NAC. Rival Vernier has confirmed it will stop taking orders for its NAC products after rebranding itself as Autonomic Networks.
Cohort Technology, a distributor for rival NAC vendor ForeScout, has launched a buy-back programme aimed at Lockdown and Vernier customers and partners.
Grahame Smee, managing director of Cohort, said: “The NAC market is still strong, but you must have the right product for the market.”
David Hobson, managing director of Vernier reseller GSS, said he would consider any alternative that was right for GSS clients.
“NAC has been overhyped, but the need for it is greater than ever. If you look at the de-perimeterisation of the network, NAC is very important indeed.”
