Aladdin invites partners into its cave

Web security and two-factor authentication vendor begins hunt for new resellers

Written by Nick Booth

Security vendor Aladdin Knowledge Systems is aiming to rub more of its magic on the channel with a new reseller recruitment programme.

At the launch of its new channel programme, the Israel-based security software
vendor claimed its eSafe perimeter based content security product can solve problems that no other vendor has dared to tackle.

Gregg Hardie, Aladdin's UK sales manager, said: “Companies like Websense made everyone aware of the need for web filtering. But now it's not enough to stop people going to known bad sites. These days there are good sites which are unwittingly bad. We're the only company that can dynamically alert IT users how safe the web is at any one time," he said.

The product can also neutralise bad code that’s been implanted on good sites. Or
even make it safe to visit sites know for containing rogue code, he said. “Paedophile sites are known for containing malicious code. And yet the police have to visit these sites. So we're hoping to make big sales to police forces,” he said.

VARs will need to take some initiative, he warned. "Anyone can sell this product. But first, you will need to work on educating the market," said Hardie.

Many end users believe they are secure, he concluded. "Resellers need to shake them out of their complacency," he said.

Potential resellers of both eSafe and eToken, the vendor's two factor authentication product, can apply through distribution partners Arc and Computerlinks to join the channel.

Carly Loveday, product manager at Computerlinks, said the distributor is
embarking on a number of online training initiatives, in order to bring more
channel partners on board. "We are doing a lot more ad hoc training, including
online training, in order to give the channel more power. The security industry
has to be flexible and responsive, and so is our training programme.”
