Ramsac breaks glass ceiling in the boardroom

VAR breaks from the norm to appoint technical director to its board of directors

Written by Nick Booth

Ramsac, a managed services provider, has broken convention and appointed a
techie to its board of directors.

Paul Mew joins the board of directors of the Surrey based outsourcing
consultancy as its technical director. He will be elevating strategic technology
planning for clients to boardroom level discussions. Other duties include
product research, development and innovation of new services to offer clients.

Mew had joined ramsac after a career as an IT manager and security specialist in the defence sector. Starting as a senior technical consultant in 2001, it has taken seven years for him to break the glass ceiling that often prevents technically minded from rising to prominence in many corporations.

Ramsac managing director Robert May explained why it is vital to have a technical director advising on strategy. "Paul Mew has proven ability to marry existing and
emerging technologies with the continually evolving requirements of modern
businesses of all sizes," said May. "The board is delighted to recognise the
commitment and loyalty Paul has shown in the past seven years."

With a client base of over 150 organisations, Mew will have a key role in
keeping abreast of the new IT innovations hitting the market every day.

"It is our responsibility to assess, advise and action the right software, systems and services to support the short, medium and long-term requirements of our clients," he said.
