Aastra completes Ericsson Enterprise acquisition

Enterprise comms vendor claims acquisition positions it as a top European player

Written by Sara Yirrell

Aastra has completed its acquisition of Ericsson's Enterprise Communications Division.

The integrated business will fall under the Aastra brand name and extends the vendor's reach in the internet protocol Communication Servers and Unified Communication applications.

It will also widen its footprint in markets such as Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, Asia Pacific, and North/South America.

Tony Shen, president of Aastra, said: "Aastra is 100 per cent focused on enterprise communications. We are well positioned as a leading enterprise communications player. This acquisition will spearhead a transformation for the business, extending our footprint globally to include emerging markets where we believe there is a significant growth opportunity for Enteprise Communications. "

"While other industry players are struggling, Aastra has had a decade of consecutive profitable quarters. Furthermore, we have been through a number of acquisitions over the years so we know how to manage the process effectively - the next year is going to be very exciting for us as we continue to grow."
