Steve Pearce: Printerland mirrors the direction in which Samsung wants to be moving

Samsung grabs Xerox partner for UK growth

Samsung continues bid to become market leader

Written by Nick Booth

Printer vendor Samsung spent three days last month encamped at the home of reseller Printerland as part of its strategy to take over the UK printer market.

Printerland, which claims to be the UK’s top printer reseller, with 70,000 clients, and is Xerox’s top partner, has been recruited by Samsung to widen its footprint in key vertical markets.

“We have always sold Samsung printers,” explained Printerland managing director James Kight.
“They are good, reliable machines, but the sales just plodded along. Now it has changed direction and decided it wants to be number one in printing in the UK. So we have thrashed out a deal.”

Samsung chose Printerland because, since starting with it in mid-2006, the reseller’s Samsung business has grown by 400 per cent. Samsung says it wants another 400 per cent rise in just one more year.

Steve Pearce, Samsung’s print product marketing manager, said: “Printerland mirrors our business direction in terms of offering the best print solutions available to customers. With Printerland, we can succeed in the laser multi-function printer market.”

Kight added: “Samsung has a great record for products that are ideal for six or seven vertical markets. I can see them being a great supplier for the education market.”
