Misco moves in on Ireland

Reseller Misco is poised to launch a full-blown assault on the Irish market following the soft launch of misco.ie in March.

Written by Doug Woodburn

Misco’s Irish operation is currently web-only and only caters for consumers. However, Mike Gammie, IT services development manager at Misco, said: “The next step is to get people on the ground there and move into the business-to-business market. Ultimately, we want to have the same model as the country we have come from.”

He added: “The idea of the soft launch was to get our name in the frame. As they trade in euros, we had to do some system changes and ensure it was all bedded down.”

Jonathan Wall, commercial manager at online VAR dabs which launched dabs-ie and dabs4work.ie last year said: “There is no doubt that the Irish economy is growing faster than the UK. The currency rate is a real advantage, as buying in sterling and selling in euros makes our pricing very attractive.”

Wall said dabs already has marketing and vendor relation staff in Ireland, which he said had been key to the VAR’s success.
