Zycko moves fast on pan-European voyage

Distributor Zycko has announced the opening of three new European offices, including its first presence in Spain, and has hinted at further expansion to come.

Zycko opened offices in Milan and Amsterdam this year and has expanded further into the continent with premises in Madrid, Munich and Stockholm. The Munich office will operate as a satellite sales office running alongside the distributor’s German hub in Berlin, while Zycko Norway’s managing director Vivian Boe will oversee the Swedish office.

Zycko Iberica, based in Madrid, will serve the Spanish and Portuguese markets and will be headed up by Jose Maria Diaz-Canel, who joins from storage integrator B2net, where he was country manager for Spain.

Zycko’s group managing director Nick Moglia told CRN his company is well-prepared for the expansion.

“We have previously looked after new territories from the UK, so we are used to vagaries in local markets,” he said.

“We are always on the look-out for new territories and are possibly looking at eastern Europe for the next one. We already have an office in Moscow and there is a lot of untapped potential there.”

Rival distributor Hammer has opened offices in Italy, Scandinavia and Ireland over the last two years and managing director James Ward said: “The European market is strong but you cannot expect business from day one. You have to build a reputation.”
