Calyx helps the Irish Stock Exchange fight spam

Integrator rises to the challenge of installing a new email and web security system

Written by Sara Yirrell

Calyx Group has completed an email and web site security refresh for the Irish Stock Exchange (ISE).

Before Calyx won the contract, the ISE had suffered from constant spam attacks, accounting for up to 90 per cent of the organisation’s inbound email. The exchange was looking for a spam solution that allowed for self management and was easy to administer compared to its previous system.

Calyx opted for an IronPort email security device which the firm claimed proved its worth within days. The ISE then challenged Calyx to deploy new web security devices to replace the incumbent devices, and counter problems of viruses, phishing and spyware. Again Calyx used IronPort’s portfolio to complete the task.

Tim Quan, a representative from Calyx Security, said: “Following a number of very successful installations on sites in Ireland we were confident IronPort would be the best solution to resolve the ISE’s spam problem. IronPort C100 devices stop the spam messages at the gateway, even before they enter the network."
