Distributor Hammer has boosted its support for niche resellers targeting the consumer sector by bolting a Consumer Storage Team onto its Storage Products division.
The five-strong team, headed up by Hammer’s storage product sales director
Paul Matravers, will focus on storage products for the home user, in contrast to
the business focus of its Storage Products and Solutions divisions.
“Hammer noticed a few products in its storage portfolio that were not getting
enough focus,” Matravers told CRN.
The team will begin with its Flash, memory and retail drives and add more as
the market develops.
David Galton-Fenzi, group sales director at rival Zycko, said: “This is not a
surprise as I thought consumer was what Hammer did anyway. Maybe this signals
that Hammer is looking to get out of the solutions space as it is finding
competition from the likes of us too tough.”
