Alex Tatham: Believes Tripp Lite is well placed to 'fit into ever-increasing customer base'.

Simms signing set to trip the light fantastic

Tripp Lite’s range of power management products offer sales opportunities and better margins for resellers

Memory distributor Simms International has signed Tripp Lite, a power management vendor to supply cost-cutting and ecologically friendlysystems.

The new product range from the US vendor, whose other offerings include KVM switches, rubberised keyboards and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) backup systems, will open up niches and sales opportunities for the system builder, according to Simms managing director Alex Tatham.

“I am really excited about this, said Tatham. “Tripp Lite will present the channel with improved pricing through Simms and better margins for resellers.

“The niche we are catering for is people who have a passion for saving money and electricity.”
The full product range consists of UPS systems, which protect critical business hardware from instability in power supply.
As demands on the UK’s national grid grow, surges, spikes and outages in the power supply are increasingly threatening to damage the sensitive components in the nation’s IT infrastructure.

“The UK has a surprisingly volatile power supply and any spike or surge can take out a company’s IT infrastructure and bring the business to a halt,” said analyst Clive Longbottom, service director at Quocirca. “It is a good business continuity tool, if a little boring.”

Meanwhile, KVM switches offer a different type of cost saving to the fiscally challenged business as it heads further into the downturn. The technology allows a user to control multiple computers from a single console.

The rubberised keyboards are aimed at the health industry. They are made from an indestructible silicone material that helps to eliminate cross-contamination in all healthcare environments.

“Tripp Lite has many years of experience and it will be a privilege to be its UK distributor,” enthused Tatham. “Resellers will be excited about making more margin on their UPS sales and it will give them a chance to differentiate themselves. Tripp Lite is going to be a great partner to fit into our ever-increasing portfolio and customer base.”

Simms is the key to providing the channel with the business solutions and services they need to support their clients, claimed Tripp Lite’s vice president, Eric Diehl.

“We anticipate solid growth from this business partnership with Simms,” he said.
