Dabs.com founder David Atherton, who was arrested on attempted rape and drugs charges last week, has been released on a £10m bail surety and has checked into a Priory clinic.
The Wigan Evening Post reports that Bolton Crown Court heard Atherton's bail application on Friday and agreed to release him to the rehabilitation centre in Cheshire. He will undertake an in-patient programme at the clinic for one month with weekly check-ins taking place thereafter. The £10m surety will be payable to the court if Atherton breaks his bail conditions.
50 year-old Atherton appeared before magistrates in Bolton last week charged with attempted rape, cocaine possession, false imprisonment and making threats to kill.
He was initially remanded in custody and is due to appear before Bolton Crown Court again on 31 October.
