Channel alerted to email archiving opportunity

GFI Software finds 51 per cent of UK organisations yet to implement email archiving, with channel well placed to profit

Written by Doug Woodburn

A lack of channel education is to blame for the fact most UK organisations have yet to implement email archiving, research has suggested.

49 per cent of the 408 UK IT managers questioned in an independent poll commissioned by GFI Software said they have fully implemented email archiving.

However, GFI expressed concern that lack of education is the primary inhibitor for the 51 per cent of firms yet to make the move, with 32 per cent of those surveyed perceiving it as unnecessary to their needs or feeling too ill-informed to purchase.

28 per cent cited budget restraints as the main reason for not purchasing.

David Vella, GFI’s director of product management, said the results highlighted the huge potential for resellers to boost email archiving sales.

“It is clear that there is a degree of education required in the market and that despite the clear benefits that many are seeing, the lack of appreciation of the utility of email archiving is concerning,” he said.

“Resellers now have a unique opportunity to inform their target customer base of the benefits they are missing out on, and perhaps more importantly, the risks they are running by failing to implement these safeguards."
