Didata buys Asian wing outright

Cisco Gold partner deepens footprint in 14 Asia-Pacific markets by boosting stake in Singapore-based Datacraft

Written by Doug Woodburn

Network integrator Dimension Data has acquired its Asian subsidiary outright in a $276m move.

Singapore-listed Datacraft, which employs 1,460 employees across 13 Asia-Pacific markets, has been part of the Didata fraternity for eleven years.

Datacraft shareholders have voted in favour of an offer by Didata to purchase the remaining 44.9 per cent stake it did not already own, which will make the firm a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Cisco Gold partner.

Brett Dawson, chief executive at Didata, which boasts annual sales of $3.8bn, said: "Datacraft also has a strong competitive position in the key markets in Asia. We believe the company will continue to go from strength to strength, capture market opportunities and expand its footprint in the growing Asia Pacific market.”

Datacraft chief executive Bill Padfield added: "Apart from offering tremendous benefits to our employees and clients, Datacraft's privatisation also positions us as a stronger force, given that we are wholly-owned by a global multinational group."
