Probrand increases green credentials

VAR signs exclusive deal with specialist green vendor Very PC to sell its AMD-powered machine

VAR Probrand has added an extra string to its green bow by securing an exclusive deal with specialist vendor Very PC to sell its AMD-powered business class PCs.

As a result the VAR claims the deal will help it facilitate the green IT movement within government as part of its Catalist framework status. The dual core processor desktop PC consumers just 30 watts of power according to the firm.

Stephen Bushell, Probrand Director of Marketing, said: “We pride ourselves on offering the very best products at the best prices in the UK. Customers looking for the most efficient way to buy, use our site on a regular basis and we have helped vendors grow sales significantly through this channel.

Peter Hopton, managing director of Very PC, said: “Green IT is at the top of many agenda and our product range exceed current economic, ecological and performance expectations in the marketplace. This means reduced power consumption and minimal C02 footprint from a smaller unit that has been manufactured through a process exemplified by government standards for generating less waste.”

He added: “Our materials are genuinely recyclable and free from harmful substances. We believe that the carbon impact of IT can be further reduced by increasing the refresh cycle, designing machines with features like solid capacitors to offer a realisitic five-year lifetime. Greener IT should outlast user requirements and expectations."
