Google searches out SCH for UK distribution

Distributor becomes UK's first to sell enterprise search applications into the channel

Written by Sam Trendall

Birmingham-based SCH Distribution has been unveiled as search engine Google Enterprise's first UK distribution partner.

Working through its ETC, Interface and Interchange brands SCH will distribute the Google Search Appliance and Google Mini to UK VARs. Resellers will be offered demo products, training, technical support and help with implementation and logistics.

VARs are being encouraged to add value through consultancy, configuration and personalisation of the products.

Google claims the channel offerings will be attractive to businesses of all sizes and will aim to combine the simplicity of its consumer search engine with powerful enterprise technologies. It also indicated resellers will benefit from taking a well-known to brand to market and can tap into lucrative new revenue streams.

SCH director Paul Eccleston said: “Google Enterprise is a fantastic addition to our stable of leading IT brands. Combined with the burgeoning market for enterprise search and related services we believe that this is a significant opportunity for our channel partners to bring the benefits of Google Enterprise Search to millions of knowledge workers in the UK and we are excited to be developing this market with them.”

Peter Lorant, head of Enterprise Partners at Google EMEA, added: “Google Enterprise is a premium brand and a market leader in search. We have selected SCH Distribution as our first UK distribution partner because in ETC, ISI and Interchange it has three strong and respected brands to extend our reach in the channel and open the door to significant enterprise sales.”
