Vcomm set for security

Distributor claims the market is ready for new product

Written by Sam Trendall

Distributor Vcomm is ready to get its security division off the ground as vendor Alcatel-Lucent announced the global availability of its OmniAccess 3500 Nonstop Laptop Guardian.

The IP telephony specialist distributor launched the division four months ago. Managing director Scott Dobson said: “We have been doing a lot of work and are waiting for the announcement from Alcatel-Lucent. Every sign is that the market is crying out for this product.”

Vcomm will run an orientation workshop for existing partners and new recruits this week. Dobson claimed his security revenue target of more than £3m within a year (CRN, 14 July) is still achievable.

“Based on reseller recruitment and the potential of the product, I am very confident we can achieve that,” he said.
