CA strengthens security offering with Orchestria buy

Software giant signs definitive agreement to acquire DLP vendor

Written by Sara Yirrell

Software giant CA has signed a definitive agreement to acquire data loss prevention vendor Orchestria for an undisclosed sum.

The move is CA’s third security-related acquisition in as many months, acquiring Eurekify in November and IDFocus in October.

As a result, CA plans to develop and sell Orchestria’s DLP product as part of its identity and access management offering, which it claims will help end users consolidate and strengthen their security profiles.

Dave Hansen, general manager of CA Security Management, said: “With this acquisition, CA will deliver one of the broadest and most advanced information security solutions in the market today, and address the demand for a new generation of identity and access management. We are continuing our aggressive plan to deliver a comprehensive solutions to our customers to help meet their security, compliance and privacy needs.”

Pete Malcolm, chief technology officer at Orchestria, said: “The integration of CA’s and Orchestria’s people and technologies gives customers and prospects a robust solution to help secure their data. As the lines between information management and information security blur, the combination with CA offers our joint customers a solution to streamline business-critical security measures.”
