Lavasoft targets system builders

Internet security vendor offers system builders commission for end user upgrades

Written by Nick Booth

Anti-spyware vendor Lavasoft has created a system builder scheme, working through distributor PX Software, for its new Ad-aware 2009 Anniversary Edition product, in both Pro and Plus versions.

Lavasoft argued that hard-up system builders could supplement their income by pre-installing a complete internet security package for clients.

It is offering three-month trials to system builders, with a commission scheme in place for any customers that upgrade to a full 12-month or 24-month licence.

“Our vision is that every computer, regardless of geographic location, has the right to protect their private information. Our Ad-Aware products will never leave a computer unprotected for basic security,” said Michael Helander, Lavasoft’s vice president.

“Once the three-month trial runs out, it reverts to the freeware version, which is still an extremely useful tool for the end user. So it is a win-win situation, there is no bloatware,” said Amanda Wyatt, Lavasoft’s OEM deal manager.
