Bell Micro signs AMD

Distributor expands portfolio with the addition of Opteron multicore processors

Written by Sara Yirrell

Bell Micro has signed a strategic agreement with AMD to supply its Opteron multi-core processors to its reseller base.

The distributor is already listed as an Opteron solution provider for Europe, but claimed the move is a 'natural expansion' to its existing portfolio.

Matthew Quirk, head of value add at Bell Micro, said: "We are very pleased about the agreement and are looking forward to developing new opportunities for both companies. Our knowledge of OEM vertical markets and extensive integration facilities means that both AMD and existing Bell Micro customers will benefit from this new alliance.

"Adding AMD to our line card brings another key vendor into our portfolio and gives customers yet another reason to engage Bell Micro as a strategic partner. "

Grant Barber, EMEA server channel manager at AMD, said: "We are delighted to be working with Bell Micro to bring together the strengths of both companies for the mutual benefit of the customer base. Our current and future roadmap complements perfectly the business opportunities that Bell Micro identifies."
