Bakbone poll highlights opportunity

Vendor highlights high data availability hotspots for its resellers

Written by kayleigh bateman

Data protection vendor BakBone Software is pointing its partners towards verticals where they may get more high data availability business compared with other sectors.

In a poll of 100 UK IT decision makers conducted by research firm Vanson Bourne, 37 per cent of organisations in the financial services space claimed they could not maintain normal operations if their data was inaccessible for up to one hour.

In comparison, 88 per cent of respondents in the manufacturing sector said they do not require such high data availability, because most systems are not linked to revenues.

Andrew Brewerton, technical director at BakBone, said: “This shows that it is the vertical that matters, not the size of the business, and indicates to our channel which areas they may have more success in.”

BakBone’s NetVault Real-Time Data Protector provides 30-second application-aware recovery for Exchange, SQL Server and Windows file system data.
