Dell to invest in channel

Vendor's global channel head wants to triple Certified partner base

Written by Sara Yirrell

Dell is planning to enhance its partner portal and continue with its aggressive channel recruitment strategy.

Greg Davis, vice president of global commercial channels at Dell, said the vendor has seen ‘tremendous’ growth through its partner network and intends to continue investing in its resellers.

“There is ongoing revision to our portal based on partner feedback,” he said. “In the Autumn we will relaunch the portal to make it easier for partners to use. We are currently growing our channel business at two times the rate of our internal growth.

“Our goal at the start of the year was to double the number of Certified Partners; now it would be nice to see if we can triple it.”

Last week the vendor unveiled changes to its deal registration strategy, lowering the threshold from £30,000 to £20,000, with a new threshold for storage deals of £10,000 (Channelweb, 22 July).

“This move is all about opening up deal registration,” said Davis. “There might be smaller value deals where partners want to engage with Dell. This offers more opportunities.”

Paul Harrison, UK channel lead at Dell, added: “This has been universally welcomed by our UK partners. Everything we have done was guided by partner feedback.”
