Electronic Frontier launches attack in USG space

Electronic Frontier aims to grab larger share of the market with Zyxel-backed initiative

Written by Kayleigh Bateman

Security and networking distributor Electronic Frontier (EFL) is gunning for a larger slice of the security market by launching an aggressive swap-out programme with Zyxel.

Under the terms of EFL’s Trade-In/Trade-Up programme, new and existing customers can trade in or trade up an old, end-of-life Zyxel or other manufacturer firewall in return for a Zyxel unified security gateway (USG) device.

A 20 per cent discount is available to VARs that encourage their customers to replace pre-2009 kit.

Conor McCann, general manager of Electronic Frontier, said the purpose of the Trade-In/Trade-Up programme is two-fold. "Firstly, to encourage existing Zyxel users to upgrade their old firewalls to improve the speed of their networks, improve employee productivity and increased security for remote access, and to protect against online attacks," he said.

"Secondly, it is designed to encourage existing security resellers to recognise Zyxel’s range of Security Gateways as high-quality security products, offering outstanding performance and functionality, which now competes with the biggest names in the industry."

McCann added that the response to the programme has 'exceeded his expectations' with increased sales of over 50 per cent in August.
