Fujitsu tempts cash-strapped customers with trade-in scheme

Vendor hopes ESPRIMO upgrade initiative will boost channel partners’ sales

Written by Doug Woodburn

Fujitsu is aiming to re-invigorate VAR order books by enabling buyers to reclaim as much as £150 when they buy all but a few models in its ESPRIMO range.

The trade-in programme is available on any quantity of systems purchased.

It is also designed to allow home and small business users to easily dispose of their old systems without having to call in a third party.

Paul Hoey, product marketing director for UK and Ireland, said the initiative would typically shave £100 off the cost of upgrading at a time when budgets are under pressure.

“Hopefully, it will persuade many more small businesses and home users to make the commitment [to upgrading],” he said.

On top of the trade-in amount, the vendor is making a £10 contribution to the shipping cost of each laptop and an additional contribution of £15 for desktops.

The amount that can be reclaimed for each system will depend on its specification, age and working condition. End users obtain a trade-in value on a special web page, before purchasing the machine from an authorised partner.

They will also need to send a copy of their receipt and valuation, along with the system they are trading, to Fujitsu.
