Wisdom of the Oracle: Fujitsu claims it will continue to invest in its Oracle capabilities

Fujitsu boosts Oracle staff by a fifth

Japanese hardware manufacturer and service provider invests in Oracle Practice as public sector deals roll in

Written by Sam Trendall

Vendor Fujitsu has boosted its number of UK Oracle professionals to more than 400 after investing in a 20 per cent increase in headcount this year.

The Japanese titan now employs about 2,300 Oracle-focused staff worldwide. Fujitsu also recently became the first UK service provider to be accredited by the database specialist as part of its Local Government Business Accelerators scheme.

Oracle offerings provided by Fujitsu include database tuning, managed services and custom development. Facilitating the implementation of shared services in the public sector has been one of the partnership's biggest successes, claimed Fujitsu.

So far this year Fujitsu has won deals with the Department of Work and Pensions, the Civil, Family and Criminal Court Jurisdictions in Northern Ireland and local government bodies in Reading, Bolton and Lancashire.

It is also working with Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire county councils. The vendor claims the two will enjoy total savings of more than £3m in the next two years by moving to an enterprise resource planning shared service infrastructure.

Andy Seferta, head of European Oracle Practice for Fujitsu UK and Ireland said: “Fujitsu’s long, global partnership with Oracle is continuing to deliver benefits for our customers across private and public sectors.”
