Apex gets virtual with Clyst college

Increasing demand for 24-hour access prompts college to strike virtualisation deal with VAR Apex

Reseller Apex has secured a six-figure deal with Clyst Vale Community College to add a virtualisation capability to its IT infrastructure.

The college's existing infrastructure was hampered by 15 servers racked in a small room with limited space for expansion and an increasingly expensive air conditioning bill.

Apex is set to install a VMware-based offering to help improve and modernise the college's technology and ensure it has a state-of-the-art IT infrastructure.

Graeme Lee, Clyst Vale Community College’s network manager, said: "We contracted Apex to implement the virtualisation solution. In working closely with them, we are putting in place the best ICT infrastructure the school could hope for. It helps our staff to deliver lessons and our students' utilisation of the ICT provision with increased stability and performance. It will also help us meet our target of achieving greater efficiency and addresses the need to reduce our costs."

Duncan Bulley, managing director of Apex, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Clyst Vale College. The issues they face are common ones within the education sector, and we are proud to be able to assist in providing the college with the very best IT facilities and a first-class learning environment.”
