RM keen to build up Lego empire in UK

Education supplier diversifies again

Written by Sara Yirrell

RM is the first VAR to become an accredited Lego Education Centre supplier to UK schools.

A Lego Education Centre is an all-purpose centre featuring thousands of Lego bricks, parts and characters to help motivate pupils to learn in subjects such as maths and science. The concept has already taken The Netherlands by storm.

James Townsend, product marketing manager at RM, said: “These centres help support subjects such as science, engineering and maths, and are a great way to inspire the kids to learn.

“This is a great initiative for RM because it broadens the perception of what we offer aside from computers.”

Townsend added RM is working on a virtual Lego Education Centre to help drive sales, and also has a mobile version which it takes on the road to demonstrate at schools.

Aftab Ahmed, head of IT at Middlesex-based Stockley Academy, the first to implement a centre, said: “We specialise in science and technology and this centre targets those areas through a range of different kits. It encourages learning through enjoyment and helps the pupils learn practical elements as well as building core soft skills.”
