UK software and services outfit Civica enjoyed a growth spurt in 2009 after completing five acquisitions during the year.

The firm, which was snapped up by private equity firm 3i in 2008, saw 2009 revenue rise by nine per cent to £146m, while EBITDA powered up 13 per cent to £25.8m.

UK conquests during the year included revenues and benefits supplier OpenRevenues, mobile specialist Limesoft and healthcare and social care provider in4tek.

Last year also saw Civica winning its largest contracts to date, netting two Building Schools for the Future deals in Luton and Barnsley expected to be worth more than a combined £60m.

Simon Downing, chief executive of Civica, said: “During a period of significant development for the group we have continued to deliver good results both financially and operationally and the business continues to grow profitably.”

Public sector specialist Civica now has 1,483 employees and 1,800 customers. As well as Civica UK, it operates in Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific through Civica International and also has a reseller arm, Civica Services.

Civica, which claims to work with 94 per cent of the UK’s local authorities, also recently made it onto the software Lot of the upcoming £6bn public sector commodity IT framework.
