UK asked to vote on best mobile provider

Mobile Data Association launches SMS poll

The Mobile Data Association (MDA) is asking the UK public to nominate their favourite mobile network provider as part of its annual awards.

Those wishing to vote should text 'MDA + operator name' (3, O2, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone) to 80010 before 5pm on 31 January.

Mike Short, chairman of the MDA, said: "The mobile industry often focuses too much on new and exciting devices when there is real innovation being delivered by many of the operators. This is what we want to promote."

The MDA will present awards in the following categories:

The MDA Personal Achievement Award
Best Mobile Device (Hardware)
Best Messaging Application (General)
Best Mobile Data Application (Consumer)
Best Mobile Data Application (Corporate)
Best Mobile Internet Use
The MDA Green Award
Chairman's UK Mobile Innovation Award

After the deadline at the end of January, the panel of judges with create a shortlist of potential winners which will be announced on 15 February. Winners will be revealed at a dinner on 20 March.
