Three weeks of voting to go!

The Channel Awards are nearly upon us again, so get those votes in before it's too late. Fleur Doidge reports

Last year's Channel Awards was a glittering event

Votes have started streaming in for the lucky shortlist with just three weeks to go before voting closes on Friday 9 October.

Unfortunately, there have been some complaints about ambiguity in the online instructions, which say: “Please select the award you wish to vote for from the list below. Please note that you can only submit one vote per individual award.”

Some have been interpreting this as meaning a company can only submit one vote per award. This is not the case.

The rule is that each employee at a company can submit one vote for each award. So if you have 200 employees, each can vote once for, say, Specialist Distributor of the Year. And each of those 200 employees can also vote for each of the other awards.

A vote must not be submitted using, say, a Hotmail or AOL email address, but must come from a verifiable, legitimate company address.

For example, Dave Diamond-Geezer of Digital Online Deals and Global Integration (Dodgi) can vote using [email protected] (it must be a verifiable email address and we will check!) once for each of the 18 Awards.

His staff can all also vote, using their own specific work email addresses. They cannot use just the one email address for everyone. So Dodgi’s PA can use her email address, Dodgi’s sales director must use his own work email address, and so on.

We hope this makes things clearer, but if not, please do get in touch.

The ceremony and celebrations are on Thursday 19 November at London’s Battersea Arena. And voting closes Friday 9 October 2009 no exceptions or extensions will be made. To vote, go to: www.channelawards.net/Shortlist.asp
