A case of idiocy
It's been such a long time since I've had the utter delight of designating my Facebook Idiot of the Week that I feared people had run out of social networking-based ways to demonstrate their mind-boggling moronicity.
Take a bow, Hadley Jons! The 20-year-old Michigan native recently had the honour of being picked for jury duty and ended up on the case of a woman accused of resisting arrest. Evidently in possession of a sharp and expeditious analytical mind, the juror was quick to come to a decision. Well before all the evidence had been presented, in fact.
"Excited for jury duty tomorrow," she said on Facebook. "It's gonna be fun to tell the defendant they're GUILTY."
I wonder if it's equally fun if you're the one being told you're guilty. Of something like, say, contempt of court?
Hare-brained Hadley was handed a $250 fine and told to write a five-page essay on the Sixth Amendment - the one that guarantees you the right to a trial by a fair and impartial jury.
Luckily, I'm not a US citizen, and so am free to judge jocular juror Jons as and when I see fit. I hereby find her monumentally guilty. Of being a prize wally.
