Cheering the channel's charitable champion
Sometimes (albeit very, very, very rarely) I do get tired of the constant barrage of sniping, sarcasm and assorted belittlement that comprises the majority of my musings. Sometimes I just want to shine a light on all that's good in the world. I'm just one man, but I'm trying to make a difference.
I'll readily admit to being a complete accounts geek - I can spend hours at a time searching the Companies House database and more hours still poring over the financial documents of my competitors. Included in every set of annual accounts is a bit about company charitable donations.
It's not unheard of for channel firms to lay out a oner, or even a grand, for good causes. (Who knew there were so many charitable projects in the Cayman Islands? Some people are just too giving...)
But today I came across by far and away the channel's most generous firm, donating £13,200 of company money in their 2010 fiscal year, on top of £13,000 given away the year before.
Take a bow, Logicalis. The munificent integrator mainly gave to local charities undertaking projects in communities where it operates. Hats off, fellas - keep up the good work.
But, if you think your company can beat that, do get in touch. All corrections, complaints, constructive criticism and thinly veiled threats to the usual address, please.
And regular reader(s) can relax - I'm sure I'll be back to my old petty, malicious, withering self come Monday morning.
