As if the stress of all the post-election uncertainty wasn't enough, politics provided further bad news for the IT industry this week, with the leader of the free world advising the workforce of tomorrow not to get distracted by technology.
Barack Obama (or the US David Cameron, as I like to think of him) told more than 1,000 graduating students at Hampton University in Virginia that technology is not always beneficial to the education process.
"With iPods and iPads, Xboxes and PlayStations - none of which I know how to work - information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation," said the President.
This is a pretty surprising admission from a man whose tech-friendly election campaign went so far as to include the Obama '08 iPhone app. Maybe one of the bright young things from the class of '10 was kind enough to show him how it works.
