Spellbound

I was intrigued to read that online tech advice firm thegadgethelpline.com has increased sales just by realising that youngsters can't spell.

Apparently, almost 28 per cent of 18 to 21 year-olds and 15 per cent of the 21 to 30 bracket cannot spell the word gadget. The canny firm registered domain names including gajit, gagit, and gaget.

In the subsequent fortnight, numbers of people signing up for the site showed a 5.21 per cent increase on the same period last year.

I myself have always welcomed the custom of poor spellers. I find a lot of people struggle with terms like 'invalidated warranty' and 'non-refundable'.
