Bank plank's prank draws blank
Her Indoors is always shopping for bargains online and I can't help but worry about her giving out our details to the myriad undesirables who populate the information superhighway. In this day and age, you can't be too careful who you share your bank details with - especially if you're planning to rob your local branch.
According to the Anchorage Daily News, the FBI alleges that Alaska native Jarell Arnold recently walked into a bank to check his balance. The monumentally short-sighted crook happily offered the teller his account details and even flashed a photo ID, the Feds allege.
He must have been less flush than he thought, as he promptly handed over a piece of paper claiming he had a gun and wanted all the money in the drawer. After making off with all of $600, Arnold, (who was convicted of bank robbery in 2004), somehow evaded capture for an entire weekend.
But, using the latest in cutting-edge crime fighting technology, (such as moving images of the criminal happily sharing details of his name, address and monthly income), the long arm of the law finally fingered its man. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Arnold admitted he was the robber.
He's probably looking at another five year stretch. If only there was a law against half-baked, hare-brained buffoonery - he'd be locked up for life.
