Who says the IT industry is boring?
When I heard the news of HP's Mark Hurd and his sexual harassment allegations, I admit I rushed to my PC at 10pm to write up a story as quickly as I could for channelweb.
Sad, maybe, but when scandal of that magnitude hits our industry, then I'm afraid my journalistic instincts kick in and there is no stopping them.
Looking more deeply at the situation though, I think it is a sad end for a man who has actually turned HP around following the days of Carly Fiorina. He might not have been that popular with employees who saw their colleagues fall by the wayside, and also with some partners as he made it tougher to deal with HP, but he did work wonders with the company.
It is a shame that his personal life had to get in the way of his business life. Always a dangerous mix in my opinion.
It will be interesting to see who gets the job. I personally hope Ann Livermore gets it - not because she is a woman, but because she was passed over for the job when Fiorina left and I think she would do a good job. But I'm guessing the competition will be hotly contested both internally and externally.
It will be a very interesting space to watch, the HP one.
