Barbecue summer part 2

I had to smile this morning reading the Metro.

The Met office has been lambasted by the UK tourist industry for its gloomy weather predictions for this half term week and also for the previous bank holiday, which has caused a boom in late bookings, but a loss to the industry as a result.

Usual pictures of hundreds if not thousands of holidaymakers lounging around on Brighton beach in the heat yesterday were used to make the point.

In its defence the Met said it had given up predicting the weather in advance after its blunder last year about the BBQ summer that never materialised. But that hasn't stopped it predicting constant rain, doom and gloom for most of the major occasions this year.

Forgive my ignorance but isn't that what the Met office is supposed to do? Predict the weather? How many millions have been spent on technology?!

I just hope the sun stays shining this weekend. I managed to miss the last bank holiday weekend due to being stuck in bed with summer flu - not a pleasant experience.
