Facebook no-no
According to a Sophos poll, 95 per cent of the Facebook users it questioned are opposed to its new privacy policy proposals.
These basically mean that if you fail to opt out - Facebook will be able to share your details with third party firms which could find out your date of birth, your picture, who your friends are and also your user ID, without actually getting your permission first.
Sophos claims that most Facebook users find the existing privacy settings process confusing enough, without adding another layer.
Personally I have resisted getting too into Facebook up until now - but I am now getting more and more hooked. I can understand why people spend so long on it now - but I still don't think you have to reveal everything.
I am also very careful who I sign up as a friend and also have made sure my privacy settings are just how I want them.
But I agree with Sophos. Facebook should listen to its users - I know the service is free - but taking users for granted is a slippery slope.
