Piers Morgan rant
I have to vent my spleen about Piers Morgan today.
I made the mistake of watching that hideous programme on the equally hideous Katie Price 'What she did next' style thingy last night.
Part of the programme was focused on her 'interview' with Morgan where she revealed she had lost a baby at eight weeks due to the stress of her split with Peter Andre.
Now I'm not dissing that at all - losing a baby must be a horrendous experience and full sympathy to her for that - but afterwards - Morgan described it as 'the most traumatic interview he had ever done'.
And he was once a journalist? Shome mistake surely?
That one line left me ranting at the TV like a complete idiot.
His years as a national newspaper editor must have covered some horrendous news that fully deserved the title 'traumatic'.
I, for example, in my days as a local newspaper journalist, had to interview the parents of a 10-year-old boy who had just been knocked down and killed on the road outside his house while he ran an errand to get some milk for the family. I followed the story right through to his funeral - where his cortege was driven past the local football stadium with all the players out paying tribute to him. Now that was a truly traumatic experience and one I will never, ever forget.
Then there was the parents of a 32-year old bloke who had just been killed in a motorcycle accident. Their only son. That was high up there as well.
I could go on.
This obsession with 'slebrities' has got to stop. Everybody seems to be losing their grip on reality here.
