Its good to talk
I have a question - are we losing the art of communication?
It is just a question I have based on my own experience. I get so tired of the phone ringing all day, that when I get home the last thing I really want to do is talk on the phone, so I just text people to stay in touch. To me that is not as personal as it should be - but I am just so tired from talking all day, I avoid making evening phone calls (my friends will vouch for this).
I remember being a student and spending hours on the phone gossiping with my friends, so I have vowed to make myself stay in touch more in 2009. So far I have failed miserably. But the intent is definitely there.
However the same goes for the office. Despite sitting near people, email is often the preferred means of communication. I find it quite sad that sometimes people just don't get up and go and talk to the person they are emailing, rather than hiding behind their screens.
Again, this is something I am going to try and stop doing so much in 2009. I am not the worst offender ever, but I do it occasionally. It has to stop. I'll let you know how I get on in a group email.
