What's in a name?

Dave investigates the murky hidden world of channel middle names

I've become a Companies House addict over the years and regularly pore over my rivals' financial information.

But it is only in recent weeks that I've come to discover the site also contains some equally intriguing behind-the-scenes info, in the shape of executives' middle names. For example, did you know one vendor director bears the second moniker Sinton? How about the Cisco partner execs blessed with the middle names Ellis and Hoskyn, respectively? And, sticking with misspelled movie stars, one distribution director carries the sobriquet Rorke.

But the telecoms world is, without a doubt, home to the weirdest and wonderfulest collection of middle names. One comms provider exec bears the hidden cognomen McKenzie, while a rival director is stuck with Daiches.

But one firm takes the cake when it comes to madcap middle monikers. They already boasted a Tudor, a MarĀgetson and a Blelock when they gained a (wait for it)... Lancelot. Heroic stuff.

Mind you, a quick perusal of Dodgi's company records would unearth a few gems. Our Gordon is a child of the 80s, and his parents were new wave synthpop fanatics. I'll bet dollars to dimes there aren't many other channel sales directors with the middle name Limahl.
