UK employees bemoan the disappearance of the corporate crayfish sandwich. Dave finds out more

I was beyond horrified to learn this week that some 80 per cent of overpaid ingrates, I mean UK employees, believe the quality of sandwiches at business meetings has dropped of late.

According to (ahem) research from Maris Interiors (yes, that Maris Interiors - only the UK's leading specialist in workplace design and creation!) the average per-person value of sandwiches at boardroom get-togethers has fallen from £6 to "a miserly £3.80" since 2006.

Apparently, the la-di-da combos of yesteryear such as crayfish and avocado, chicken teriyaki, flambéed chestnuts and Roquefort, and fatted calf's liver and Nutella have disappeared. Appearing in their stead are decidedly pedestrian options such as cheese and pickle, and tuna and sweetcorn. Drat.

After asking him his opinion 12 times in a row, Maris chairman Michael Howard finally conceded "you won't impress a client with jam sandwiches!"

I don't know, Mike; what if you're pitching to do an IT refresh for Hartley's or Robertson's?
