Overtime and over here
Dave explains why unpaid overtime is one of the perils of full time work
I was intrigued to learn recently that more than five million UK employees did unpaid overtime last year, working an average of 7.2 free hours a week.
Figures from the TUC estimate that UK Plc is getting a £28.9bn boost from all this pro bono work.
So the loveable lefties issued a press release declaring that the last Friday in February was "Work Your Proper Hour Day". As an SMB owner, I do hope that missing ‘s' in "hour" is a typo.
Mind you, I'm lucky to get an hour's work from all my sales team combined on the average Friday.
After a hard week of fulfilling their job description, they feel they've earned a back-slapping lagerfest.
Personally, I think a job well done is its own reward. There's also the money I pay them to sell stuff.
