Countdown to the Olympics: Can you work at home?
Otherwise you are just going to get in the way
Next year, anyone who works in London is going to become a major inconvenience for at least two weeks.
Trying to get to work is going to be frowned upon by Big Brother while the Olymic games are going on - instead we are all being encouraged to try and work from home where possible.
Not usually known for jumping on the Olympic bandwagon, Alcatel-Lucent is urging businesses to look at their remote working system well in advance and ensure they are well prepared for the chaos that is bound to ensure next year, including getting their networks updated and perphaps looking at a UC solution.
But as I have said before - not everyone can work from home and why should they? It is not the average worker's fault that the transport system in the capital is basically useless and will be totally unable to cope with the volume of expected visitors (and yes I am biased against public transport).
I'm not sure what I am going to do next year yet - remote working is not something I enjoy particularly - I prefer coming into the office - but I don't much fancy battling my way through the crowds to work either.
Of course, maybe my elusive Lottery win is the just round the corner and then worrying about getting into work won't be an issue any more!
