Bribery and corruption

As a missive from our own company highlights the dangers of bribery - I wonder what exactly it means?

Something called bribery laws have found their way into the statute books this year and we have all been warned to guard against it.

Does this mean the piles of freebies that found their way to our desks have to go back? I'm not sure if a used biro would be that welcome to be honest.

Luckily for us tech journalists the generous days of the 90s have well and truly gone - the days when for simply attending a press conference, a brand new laptop was thrust into your sweaty paws.

Now we are lucky to get a bottle of room temperature water!

I joined just after the dotcom bust, so I missed out on the golden days of the IT industry - but I certainly have heard the stories from my 'older' colleagues.

Also with all the goings on in the media we have to be extra careful to be ultra transparent now - so many things can be misconstrued now that it is easier to stick to a simple set of rules.

I'm going to be writing something on the Bribery act in the not too distant future and would love to know your take on it. Please do let me know what you all think and how you think it will/will not affect your business.
