Name shame
Is it really so difficult to get a name right?
I've just had a random cold call on my mobile from some annoying git trying to push pensions.
Aside from the fact that if you don't work in the public sector your pension is worth diddly squat anyway, this guy has really wound me up on two counts.
Firstly by calling me on a private number and asking me personal questions about my finances; and secondly, the most irritating of all, by consistently calling me Sarah throughout the call.
Now once I can accept because people make that mistake all the time, but when I corrected him three times on the pronunciation of my name and he still got it wrong I was just about ready to scream.
If I see a name that I am not sure how to pronounce - be it a person or a company - the first thing I do is to check with the relevant person and ensure I've got it right.
Or, shock horror, if I do think I know it all and say it wrong the first time, I probably over-compensate for the mistake by saying the name correctly in a louder voice than normal.
It is just basic manners ensuring you address people correctly.
So please if I have ever said your name incorrectly - please feel free to name and shame me. I can take it!
